Had a wicked 1st night saw old friends, heard some pretty amazing bands. I have some pretty interesting stories for 1 night in, the strange ones I will save for the end of the festival as I am sure there are more to come with 3 days and nights left.
Thanks to knowing some of the people working the event, I discovered that the night venues were to Capacity, so in order to avoid missing out on Austra I stuck with Alix Goolden Hall.
Class Actress, surprised me as it appeared to be a duo not Trio according to the information I could dig up. Just a reason you need to not trust wikipedia alone when it comes to Music especially. Just as a note Class Actress is not: Acting Class. It was definetly a Synth pop sound with so much more to it. It was so hard to put a thumb on describing other than a heart pounding great dance tunes when the show is live.
Doldrums, Airick Woodhead’sMontreal based electro-emo dance project currently on tour with Austra. He kind of made you giggle with his mushrooms=equals no merch and then had you up on your feet dancing.
Austra was amazing,Their Live show is so much better than listening to the album. It had your heart pumping and grabbed you into the show. They invited everyone to come dance on stage with them while they were performing. That made the money spent worth it right there. They were very Gracious about the whole festival which just made them an even better band right there.

Plus my latest favourite band Rival sons nah you can't tell I love Bluesy
Rock not at all. Not Canadian but when they are from LA,
you can seldom go wrong. It reminds you of those days of road trips
when you had no cares in the world. While Relatively new
they have opened for Alice Cooper, Kid Rock and Ac/DC.
Unless you're in Europe or the UK you won't be seeing these guys live
for a while, but as a Consolation here is Get What's Coming Live at Manchester
Apollo July 16th, 2011.
Also an oldie but had to share Sex beat by The Gun Club.
I guess I am just drawn to the present and past LA scene
as of late, as The Gun Club along with X, The Flesh Eaters
and The Blasters, were the formative bands of the LA rock
scene of the 80's. A near perfect blend of blues, rockabilly
and country to create a unique sound at the time. With the
Flamboyant Delta Blues lover Jeffrey Lee Pierce as the
Frontman it's not hard to see why they lasted until 1996
when he died of a Brain Hemorrhage.
